Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply

Song Info:

"Truly Madly Deeply" is a song by Australian pop band Savage Garden recorded between 1995 and 1996, released as a single in 1997. Written by bandmates Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones, the song is a reworking of an older song of theirs called "Magical Kisses" and was the third single from their self-titled debut album. The song is considered to be the best song throughout the run of the duo.

There were two videos made for "Truly Madly Deeply". One of them was filmed in the Sacré-Cœur area of Paris, said to be the most romantic city in the world. It was directed by Adolfo Doring.[2]

The Japanese release, available elsewhere on import, was actually a special, album-length disc comprising 14 rare tracks, featuring three versions of the title song, along with three bonus remixes, six rare B-sides and two acoustic live versions.

There are two distinct versions of the song. One was released on the Australian album release, whereas the other version was on the US release. This version composed in 1996 features a drum-machine track instead of the more acoustic-sounding music in the Australian version. The US version also featured on their 2005 greatest hits, Truly Madly Compeletely.

In 1998 it was the main song from the soundtrack of the movie Music from Another Room, starring Jude Law and Gretchen Mol.[3]

Enrique Iglesias - Hero

Song Info:

"Hero" is a single released by Enrique Iglesias from his second English album Escape and was written for his good friend Simon Baxendale, by Matt White.

Enrique first released the song to radio in November 2001 to a positive critical and commercial reception. After the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, the song was one of the few songs chosen by Radio DJs in New York to be remixed with audio from police, firefighters, civilians at Ground Zero and Politicians commenting on the attacks.

He was asked to sing the song live at the benefit concert America: A Tribute to Heroes ten days after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Iglesias broadcast his performance from a warehouse in New York alongside Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and Sheryl Crow. The location of the warehouse was kept secret in case of further attacks. It was Iglesias' first televised performance of the song. He had performed the song earlier at that year's Miss Venezuela but due to the terrorist attacks the show was not aired on television.

Boyzone - Words

Song Info:

"Words" is a song written and sung by the Bee Gees, released in the beginning of 1968. Barry Gibb said in 1996 on the VH1 Storytellers television show that it was written for their manager Robert Stigwood. It was originally intended for Cliff Richard, but he never got round to recording the track as he wasn't making an album at the time. Rather than wasting the song, The Bee Gees decided to record it themselves. [1]

As stated on the Bee Gees single the song was featured in the film The Mini Mob (1968), where it was sung by Georgie Fame in an arrangement by Bill Shepherd similar to the Bee Gees single but recorded earlier. The very limited distribution of the film and the pre-emptive release of the Bee Gees version eclipsed the Georgie Fame recording.

Barry Gibb sings lead vocal and possibly all the backing vocals as well. The band consisted of: Barry Gibb (rhythm guitar), Maurice Gibb (piano and bass guitar), and Colin Petersen (drums), with an orchestral arrangement by Bill Shepherd. Some backing vocals near the end are heard only on the mono mix used on the single, some compilations, and the Studio Albums box set.

Words has been recorded by many other artists. Among them are a hit version by Rita CoolidgeBoyzone in 1996 (on the album A Different Beat). This single by Boyzone was their fifth single and their first number one hit in the UK.

M2M - The Day You Went Away

Song Info:

The Day You Went Away: The Best Of M2M
is the last album and greatest hitsNorwegian teen-pop band M2M, now disbanded.
compilation by

The compilation includes all of their singles from their two studio albums Shades of Purple and The Big Room, as well as acoustic versions of some other songs. It also contains a Mandarin Chinese version of their hit "Pretty Boy" and a Spanish version of "Everything You Do". It also has three new songs, "Not To Me", "Is You", and "Wait For Me".

The liner notes include lyrics to the songs; however, there is a mistake in the lyrics for "Don't Say You Love Me". Instead of "...we're sitting there you start kissing me...", what is written is "we're sitting there you said you love me...". The written lyrics are from the Pokémon: The First Movie soundtrack version of the song, where the lyrics were changed to "you said you love me" to remove the reference to kissing, which it can be assumed, was deemed inappropriate, given the target audience of the film. However, the Shades of Purple album version of the song was the version included in the greatest hits album.
