Danielle Barbe - Ghost Town

Song Info:

Danielle Barbe is a young rock artist from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, whose self-titled debut album released in March 2010. “Danielle is the real deal, a rare combination of incredible talent and charisma only seen in the biggest stars in the business” says her producer Luke Ebbin (Bon Jovi, All American Rejects, Plain White Ts, Rival Schools).

Danielle has been singing since age 5, but she was shy growing up. She starred in school plays and recorded her first song at a local studio at age 6. After a decade of singing in musicals and church choirs, she and her brother Dave formed a band in high school, where she crafted her songwriting, her unique rock vocal style, and the rock ‘n roll stage presence she’s become known for.

While in the band, Danielle was the youngest person to compete in several Pittsburgh rock challenges, and the band worked clubs on the East Coast such as Don Hill's in New York City and Peabody’s in Cleveland. In 2007, the band began recording with an established producer near New York, and Danielle continued honing her live skills opening for Rusted Root, Saves The Day, Tantric, and later The Cult at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

The band members went their separate ways in 2009, and Danielle continued writing songs and developing her own unique sound. She quickly attracted the attention of a seasoned Los Angeles production and artist development team who develop independent artists. Danielle’s team soon had recording a new album with Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Luke Ebbin.

With her debut album and video complete and online, Danielle began attracting the attention of tastemakers and music fans. She played several shows at SXSW 2010 in March, Texas, and had performances in throughout Los Angeles in April.

Music Video Info:

Around this time, Danielle’s first single, “Ghost Town” was noticed by CBS and featured on the hit CBS show “Ghost Whisperer”, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt. “Danielle was invited to perform for the entire “Ghost Whisperer” cast and crew at their 100th episode party, and they later featured her in an interview on the CBS website and used the single again in a CBS webisode. “Ghost Town” continued attracting attention as it was being played on 46,000 Delta Airline flights.

Shortly hereafter, another of Danielle’s songs, “Wango Tango”, went on to grace the silver screen with a placement in the film “Vampires suck” by the creator/producer of Scary Movie franchise. The film was #2 at the box office, and the song was also featured on the film’s soundtrack.

Danielle quickly became no stranger to the road as her voice and stage presence got her noticed by many rock ‘n roll bands including Fuel, Candlebox, and The Gracious Few (members of Live and Candlebox), all of whom she went on to tour the country with over the following months. She also opened for bands such as Semi Precious Weapons at the Lady Gaga after party in Pittsburgh and kept playing around her hometown.
With her video “Ghost Town” now being played on MTV, in addition to music channels, in clubs, gyms, and large stores like Macy’s across the country and her single “Ghost Town” getting airplay on tons of radio stations in the U.S., Danielle is surely a rising star who will steal your heart.
