Brian McKnight recorded the song on his 1999 album Back at One, releasing it in August of that year as the album's first single. His version was a #2 pop hit, spending eight weeks at that position on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts, one of the longest runs at that position in the chart's history. McKnight also performed the song with Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo on her album Festa.
Singer Mijares covered it in his 2009 Spanish album Vivir Así.
