The uptempo dance song lyrically speaks of somebody making Alexis happy, as well as romantic regret, realisation and ultimately exultation.[3][4] Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston has been listed as inspiration for the single.
The song has become a critical and commercial hit in the US as well as on international markets. Despite failing to chart on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart in the US, it did manage to peak at the top of their Hot Dance Club Songs chart, with the aid of the remixed versions of the single. It has also become a major hit in the United Kingdom, debuting and peaking at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart, as well as number 2 on the UK Dance Chart. It has also peaked inside the Top 40 of countries such as Scotland, Ireland and the European Hot 100 Singles.
The single has also received good reviews from critics, with many commenting on Jordan's vocal abilities and the uptempo beat of the song. Several websites have also praised the Jump Smoker's Remix of the single, calling it the main reason the single topped the US Dance Charts.
