Jennifer Lopez Feat. Pitbull - On The Floor

Song Info:

"On the Floor" is a song by American recording artist and actress Jennifer Lopez, featuring Latin American rapper, Pitbull. It was released by Island Records on February 11, 2011 as the lead single from Lopez's seventh studio album Love?. "On the Floor" was written by Bilal Hajji, Kinda Hamid, Achraf Jannusi, Pitbull and Geraldo Sandell, as well as RedOne, who also produced the song. Its release coincided with Lopez’s appointment as a judge on the tenth season of US reality TV show American Idol, as well as several other product endorsement deals. Idol also provided a platform to debut the single's music video, as well as the stage for Lopez's first live performance of the song.

"On the Floor" is an up-tempo dance-pop, electropop and electro-house song, set in common time with a tempo of 130 beats per minute. Other elements of the song are borrowed from Eurodance, Latin American and techno music, including heavy synths and club beats. Its development was motivated by Lopez’s Latin heritage and pays homage to her career-beginnings as a dancer. It interpolates elements of the 1982 composition "Llorando Se Fué" written by Gonzalo and Ulises Hermosa, a composition previously sampled by Kaoma in their 1989 single "Lambada". Taking account of the sample, and RedOne's production, Lopez described "On the Floor" as an evolution of her classic sound and as something which sounded very current.

Editors from BBC Music and Los Angeles Times compared "On the Floor" to Lopez’s debut single, "If You Had My Love" (1999) and follow-up single, "Waiting for Tonight" (1999). Critics complemented the exotic production, referring to the sound as "vintage" Lopez, but criticized RedOne's lack of originality. Commercially, "On the Floor" is Lopez’s most successful single to date, topping more than eighteen national single charts. In the United States, it was Lopez's first single in four years to garner airplay, and to date has sold over two million copies, earning a double Platinum certification. The song was also certified triple Platinum in Australia and reached Platinum status in six other countries.

An accompanying music video was directed by TAJ Stansberry and choreographed by Frank Gatson, Jr, with fans being given the chance to vote for their preferred ending for the video. The completed clip premiered simultaneously on Vevo and during the March 3, 2011 episode of American Idol, watched by 25.26 million people. It depicts a Los Angeles underground club culture where Lopez portrays a "queen of the nightclub " amongst other characters. The video received critical acclaim for its expensive production, the styling and choreography, that critics felt best highlighted Lopez’s abilities as a dancer. A critic from MTV described the premiere of the video as something which overshadowed the episode of Idol on which it was shown.

Music Video Info:

The music video for "On the Floor" was filmed over the weekend dated January 22–23, 2011, with TAJ Stansberry serving as the director and Frank Gatson as the choreographer.[15][81] Lopez told MTV News that for the video she was holding an open casting call to find club kids, "[We want] those kids who go to the club and they dance all night and that's all they care about? It's just about having a good time, getting all sweaty, and it's all about the music and leaving it on the dance floor. I don't want to say what the video is, but that's the type of dancers. We're doing a big casting call..."[15] Meanwhile Gatson said that Lopez wanted a post-2AM Los Angeles club vibe for the video.

"Till the World Ends" was written by Dr. Luke, Alexander Kronlund, Max Martin and Kesha, while being produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Billboard. The main inspiration of the song for Kesha was imagining Spears and any other female musicians touring the world. "Till the World Ends" was leaked on March 3, 2011, and was released for digital download the following day. The song is composed as an uptempo dance-pop and electropop song with an electro beat and a chant-like chorus, where Spears sings about dancing until the end of the world. "Till the World Ends" received mostly positive reviews, with critics calling it a catchy dance track and complimenting its anthemic nature.

A Bollywood remix of "Till the World Ends" was done by Indian music producer duo Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. The Femme Fatale Remix of the song, featuring rapper Nicki Minaj and Kesha, was released on April 25, 2011. The remix adds a rap by Minaj at the beginning, new vocals by Kesha and a dubstep breakdown. "Till the World Ends" became a commercial success, peaking inside the top ten in sixteen countries including Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand and the United States. The Femme Fatale Remix propelled the single to the top five in Canada and the United States.

An accompanying music video for the song was released on April 6, 2011. Directed by Ray Kay, it portrays Spears in an underground dance party set on December 21, 2012. Critics noted the similarities with the music video for "I'm a Slave 4 U" (2001), and predominantly gave positive reviews for it. A choreography cut was released on April 15, 2011. Spears has performed "Till the World Ends" on television shows Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and performed it with Minaj at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards. She has also performed the song as the encore of the Femme Fatale Tour (2011).

Music Video Info:

The music video for "Till the World Ends" was directed by Ray Kay and filmed inside a basement in Los Angeles, California.[62] On March 17, 2011, Spears posted on her Twitter account, "Day 1 of the #TTWE Videoshoot. Just wrapped my first big dance number. Taking a well deserved break people!" She also tweeted a picture of her on set, wearing ripped tights, a Burberry Prorsum studded leather jacket and matching fingerless leather gloves.[63][64] The making-of was chronicled on the special Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale, which aired on MTV on April 3, 2011, at 21:00 EST (02:00 UTC). In the special, Spears is seen watching the playback, as she later explained, "[It is] just to make sure it's right and that the costume looks right and the dancers are together and we all look in unison. It's an energy and it looks fresh. It has a certain vibe with it and it makes sense." She also went on to describe the set as "grimy and gross [...] It was sweat and it was disgusting sometimes". At a point in the shoot, Spears changed her heels to Ugg boots during the shots that did not show her feet, stating "[Dancing in heels] hurts ... but it looks good. It wasn't a full-length shot, so a girl's about comfort when it's not showing." "Till the World Ends" is nearly the 40th music video Spears has made in her career. When asked if she feels she needs to top herself with every project, she responded,[62]
