Song Info:

Armando Christian Pérez (born January 15, 1981), better known by his stage name Pitbull, is an American rapper, singer-songwriter and record producer. His first recorded performance was from the Lil Jon album Kings of Crunk in 2002, after which he released his debut album in 2004 titled M.I.A.M.I. (short for Money Is a Major Issue) under TVT Records. Since then, he has released two other albums under the label, El Mariel in 2006 and The Boatlift in 2007.[1] He then released Rebelution in 2009, which included singles "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" and "Krazy". The latter peaked at No.30 on the Hot 100 and No.11 on the Hot Rap Tracks charts while "I Know You Want Me" peaked at No.2 on the Hot 100 and peaked within the top ten spots of charts in the UK, Canada, Italy, and the Netherlands. The song reached No.1 in France and the European Hot 100 on the week ending August 29, 2009 according to Billboard magazine. He later signed with Polo Grounds Music through Sony Music and created his own label Mr. 305 Inc. Other singles from Rebelution included "Blanco" featuring Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes and "Hotel Room Service", the latter of which peaked at No.8 on the Hot 100. Rebelution went on to sell over 7.5 million worldwide digital singles and albums combined.[2]

Pérez is also the host of his own Spanish-language program on the cable channel Mun2 titled La Esquina (Spanish for The Corner).[3]

In 2005 Pérez and rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs co-founded Bad Boy Latino, a subsidiary of Combs' Bad Boy Records label. It primarily focuses on Latin Rap, Latin Soul and Tropical music, and has offices in Miami and New York.[4][5] Along with co-founding it, Pérez currently heads the A&R division of the label.[6][7]

Pérez has become a product endorser, representing alongside Drake, Rihanna, and Trey Songz the “So Kodak” campaign for the Kodak brand[8] and embarking on a partnership with the soda giant Dr Pepper as part of the campaign “Vida 23” for which he recorded the song specifically for it that was also featured on his album Armando.[9]

Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me

Song Info:

"Hold It Against Me" is a song by American recording artist Britney Spears. It was released as the first single from her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale. "Hold It Against Me" was written by Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Bonnie McKee and Billboard, while being produced by Luke, Martin and Billboard. The song was initially going to be offered to Katy Perry, but Luke and Martin felt that it did not suit her. Luke explained that he wanted "Hold It Against Me" to sound unlike his previous productions. After a demo version of the track performed by McKee was leaked, the finished version premiered on January 10, 2011. The single was released the following day.

Musically, "Hold It Against Me" blends pulsating industrial and trance beats with elements of grime. The chorus contains lilting synths, that lift her vocals and contrast them with the hard beats. The song also features a dubstep-influenced breakdown, which displays Spears moaning and blowing kisses, and ends with a final chorus with elements of rave. The lyrics portray the singer seducing someone on the dancefloor, while the chorus revolves around pick-up lines. The Bellamy Brothers criticized it for being similar to their 1979 hit "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me". They were later sued by Martin, Luke, McKee and Billboard for defamation and libel.

Most reviewers praised "Hold It Against Me", although some criticized its lyrical content. The song became a commercial success, debuting at number one in Belgium Wallonia, Canada, Denmark, Finland and New Zealand, as well as on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it became her fourth chart topper. In the United States, "Hold It Against Me" made Spears the second artist in Billboard's history to debut at number one more than once, behind Mariah Carey. The feat also made her the third female artist to ever score number one singles in three consecutive decades, and the seventh artist overall. Additionally, the single has charted in the top five in countries such as Australia, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Finland and Norway.

An accompanying music video for the song was directed by Jonas Åkerlund. It premiered on February 17, 2011, following a two-week promotional campaign of teasers. The video features Spears as a pop star who fell from space to find fame on Earth. There, she becomes overwhelmed by the pressures of being a celebrity and breaks down. The video received mixed to positive reviews, with critics complimenting its artistic concept and visuals, but dismissing the use of product placement. Spears has performed "Hold It Against Me" at Rain Nightclub, Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She has also performed it as the opening number of the Femme Fatale Tour (2011).

Music Video Info:

The music video for "Hold It Against Me" was filmed on January 22 and 23, 2011.[54] It was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, while Brian Friedman served as the choreographer.[55][56] According to Spears's manager Larry Rudolph, she became a fan of Åkerlund's work after seeing the video for Madonna's "Ray of Light" (1998), but they had not worked together in the past due to "his availability or her timing". Spears and Åkerlund quickly got together to create the concept, presenting different ideas until, according to Rudolph, "it took a life on its own".[57] Open auditions were held on December 22, 2010, and the dancers had to learn a routine set to Robyn's "Criminal Intent" (2010).[58]

On January 22, 2011, Spears tweeted from the video shoot saying it was "an incredible experience" and it would "be one of the best videos I have ever done."[54] On February 2, 2011, accusations came from TMZ.com that Jonas had decided to use a dance double for Spears when it seemed like she had not rehearsed her moves enough. Both her representatives and the director denied the rumors, with Jonas commenting, "[Britney's] been great throughout the entire process. [...] I've been around long enough to know when an artist gives it their all, and to me it doesn't get better than this. This video is gonna be fucking awesome! It's all Britney."[59] Her manager Larry Rudolph later confirmed that a body double was actually used, but only for the scenes in which Spears fights herself.[60] The fight scene was choreographed by Steven Ho.[61] He commented that Spears incorporated the moves learned during rehearsals, but also incoporated "her own flavor", by adding a small shuffle of steps in her heels. The length of the dresses also presented a problem, and there were discussions about shortening the trains for safety issues. They were later added as 'weapons', as Ho explained, "as if they were sharp blades, giving Britney reason to jump and evade around them."[62]

Friedman revealed that [Jonas' wife], B. Åkerlund, was the stylist for the video. B. is known for her work with Madonna and Lady Gaga, but Friedman assured that "it is not 'Britney does Gaga.'"[63] B. later commented about the fashion of the video, saying, "We were going for a punk-rock couture look in this video, with a touch of glam." For the wedding dress scene, B. worked with Tom Tom fashions to create a custom-made dress. Swarovski crystals were used for the "arm creations", and a necklace by Dannijo and gloves by La Cracia were added as accessories. For the fight scene, both Spears and her double wear custom dresses by B., in collaboration with Falguni and Shane Peacock, and also sport stilettos by XTC. During her dance sequence, Spears wears an outfit created by B. and Skin Graft Designs, with jewelry by Tom Binns. The boots were Spears's own, and completely bedazzled with Swarovski crystals. For the microphone sequence, Spears rocks a red look described as "skull shoulders," designed by Yasmen Hussein for Swarovski Runway Rocks. She completes the look with earrings and a necklace by Tom Binns and rings by Loree Rodkin. For the finale scene, Spears wears a custom skintight black dress by Bordelle, complete with garters. She accessorizes the look with a necklace by Noir and boots decorated with Swarovski crystals.[64] After its release, the music video earned Spears $500,000 for the product placement by Sony, Make Up Forever and PlentyofFish.[65]

Britney Spears - Gimme More

Song Info:

"Gimme More" is a song by American recording artist Britney Spears from her fifth studio album, Blackout. It was released on September 27, 2007 by Jive Records as the lead single of the album. The song was co-written and produced by Danja and was recorded during Spears's second pregnancy. The track opens with an intro in which Spears says the phrase "It's Britney, bitch". It features racy lyrics, that although they appear to be about dance and sex, are a reference to the public's fascination with Spears's private life. Musically, "Gimme More" is an uptempo dance-pop song with breathy vocals and influences from other genres, such as electro and funk.

"Gimme More" received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the music but dismissed Spears's vocals. The song peaked at number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, becoming her fifth top ten hit and also her second highest-peaking single at the time. It also peaked at the top of the charts in Canada and reached top five positions in fourteen countries. The accompanying music video premiered on October 5, 2007. It displayed Spears as a stripper and featured a break from Spears's highly choreographed music videos. It received mixed to negative reviews from critics, who panned Spears's pole dancing as well as the lack of storyline. An alternate cut was leaked on July 18, 2011. "Gimme More" has been covered and sampled by many artists, including Sia and Marié Digby.

Spears performed "Gimme More" at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, wearing a black sequined ensemble. Her performance was panned by many critics, who commented extensively on her singing, dancing and wardrobe. Chris Crocker uploaded a video in response to the criticism titled "Leave Britney Alone!", which made him an Internet celebrity and was referenced in television spoofs and films. The song's opening line, "It's Britney, bitch", became a catch phrase in popular culture. It was referenced in many television shows and used during the performance of "Human Nature" on Madonna's 2008-09 Sticky & Sweet Tour. Spears has also performed "Gimme More" at the Femme Fatale Tour (2011).

Music Video Info:

The music video for "Gimme More" was filmed over two days in July 2007 at a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles, California.[35][36] It was directed by Jake Sarfaty, who was handpicked by Spears. According to People, the production was Spears's "concept and vision".[35] During filming, Spears was spotted wearing a short black dress, black boots and a black hat.[36] On September 13, 2007, it was reported by The New York Times that the music video was being "tweaked with input from her advisers" since "[the] gritty, stripper-themed clip [...] may jolt fans who are more accustomed to the slick, tightly choreographed videos that made her an MTV staple".[37] The music video premiered exclusively in iTunes Store on October 5, 2007 and in all other outlets, including TRL on October 8, 2007.[36]

The video begins with a blonde Spears sitting and laughing in a bar with two female friends, but stops to look at a small stage in front of them. A brunette Spears appears on the stage, wearing a leather vest, a studded belt, panties and fishnet stockings while sporting a tattoo on her biceps. She dances erotically around a pole and up against a mirror. Throughout the video, she continues to dance and flip her hair while special effects lights flash around her as the camera moves slightly in and out of focus to the beat of the song. The video's light systems change from black and white with aura-like blue and pink hues to full blown color. Around the middle of the video, she is joined by two alter egos of her female friends, who also dance around the pole.[35]

The music video received mixed to negative reviews from critics. Michael Slezak of Entertainment Weekly said "The moral of the story is, if you’re going to build an entire video around a stripper pole, then you better work said pole like a nine-to-five. Drop it like it’s hot. [...] Alas, in the case of "Gimme More," I’ve seen sexier pole work during an afternoon of fly-fishing".[38] Andrei Harmsworth of Metro commented "To her credit, the video is slightly less disappointing than her mimed performance of the track at the Video Music Awards last month but it is still smeared with the same smutty hallmarks".[39] Dose said the video "sucks less than you think" and added "Spears appears lucid, sometimes happy, and awards-worthy editing makes her appear to be standing upright competently throughout".[40] While reviewing the alternate version of the video in July 2011, Becky Bain of Idolator stated that "Spears's last few videos — particularly the joyfully silly clip for 'I Wanna Go' — more than make up for the travesty that was the pop star's video for 'Gimme More' [...] The stripper concept was a poor choice, the barely-there outfits were ill-fitting, the 'choreography' was a joke, the editing was sloppy."[41]

An alternate version of the video leaked online on July 18, 2011, and included new scenes, which featured Spears strutting down the street in a black outfit and laying down in a zebra-print bed with a cat. The scenes of blonde Spears were cut. Becky Bain of Idolator said that "Neither the deleted nor added parts add or subject anything from the experience. This video was kind of doomed no matter how it was edited together."[41]

Far East Movement - Like A G6

Song Info:

"Like a G6" is a song from Far East Movement's 2010 album Free Wired. The track features female vocals by Dev and male vocals by Far East Movement. It was written and produced by The Cataracs. It was number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks ending November 6, 2010, and then again for the week of November 27 of the same year. It is one of only eight singles in Billboard history to return to #1 after two or more other singles had succeeded it in that position. The song has also topped the charts in New Zealand and South Korea and reached the top ten in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Thailand, Sweden, Switzerland and Slovakia.

Many questions surround the meaning of "G6." Some believed it to be a reference to the Pontiac G6,[1] however, Kev Nish clarified that the G6 reference is to an airplane, a Gulfstream IV (G4) hyperbole. "A G6 is not a Gatorade flavour. It's not a car, convertible, four-door. It's not a watch," group member Kev Nish told MTV News. "But Drake, Drake talks about having G4 pilots on deck, so we said, 'What's flyer than a G4?' Of course, it would be a G6." Writer and producer Niles Hollowell-Dhar revealed that the reference to G6 was created primarily in order to rhyme.[2] It samples Dev's single "Booty Bounce" as the hook/chorus.

Music Video Info:

The music video, which was directed by Matt Alonzo and edited by Thomas Uncles, premiered on YouTube and VEVO on June 2, 2010. It features Dev. The line "sippin' sizzurp" and the word "slizzard" are censored on some channels.[citation needed]

Jennifer Lopez Feat. Pitbull - On The Floor

Song Info:

"On the Floor" is a song by American recording artist and actress Jennifer Lopez, featuring Latin American rapper, Pitbull. It was released by Island Records on February 11, 2011 as the lead single from Lopez's seventh studio album Love?. "On the Floor" was written by Bilal Hajji, Kinda Hamid, Achraf Jannusi, Pitbull and Geraldo Sandell, as well as RedOne, who also produced the song. Its release coincided with Lopez’s appointment as a judge on the tenth season of US reality TV show American Idol, as well as several other product endorsement deals. Idol also provided a platform to debut the single's music video, as well as the stage for Lopez's first live performance of the song.

"On the Floor" is an up-tempo dance-pop, electropop and electro-house song, set in common time with a tempo of 130 beats per minute. Other elements of the song are borrowed from Eurodance, Latin American and techno music, including heavy synths and club beats. Its development was motivated by Lopez’s Latin heritage and pays homage to her career-beginnings as a dancer. It interpolates elements of the 1982 composition "Llorando Se Fué" written by Gonzalo and Ulises Hermosa, a composition previously sampled by Kaoma in their 1989 single "Lambada". Taking account of the sample, and RedOne's production, Lopez described "On the Floor" as an evolution of her classic sound and as something which sounded very current.

Editors from BBC Music and Los Angeles Times compared "On the Floor" to Lopez’s debut single, "If You Had My Love" (1999) and follow-up single, "Waiting for Tonight" (1999). Critics complemented the exotic production, referring to the sound as "vintage" Lopez, but criticized RedOne's lack of originality. Commercially, "On the Floor" is Lopez’s most successful single to date, topping more than eighteen national single charts. In the United States, it was Lopez's first single in four years to garner airplay, and to date has sold over two million copies, earning a double Platinum certification. The song was also certified triple Platinum in Australia and reached Platinum status in six other countries.

An accompanying music video was directed by TAJ Stansberry and choreographed by Frank Gatson, Jr, with fans being given the chance to vote for their preferred ending for the video. The completed clip premiered simultaneously on Vevo and during the March 3, 2011 episode of American Idol, watched by 25.26 million people. It depicts a Los Angeles underground club culture where Lopez portrays a "queen of the nightclub " amongst other characters. The video received critical acclaim for its expensive production, the styling and choreography, that critics felt best highlighted Lopez’s abilities as a dancer. A critic from MTV described the premiere of the video as something which overshadowed the episode of Idol on which it was shown.

Music Video Info:

The music video for "On the Floor" was filmed over the weekend dated January 22–23, 2011, with TAJ Stansberry serving as the director and Frank Gatson as the choreographer.[15][81] Lopez told MTV News that for the video she was holding an open casting call to find club kids, "[We want] those kids who go to the club and they dance all night and that's all they care about? It's just about having a good time, getting all sweaty, and it's all about the music and leaving it on the dance floor. I don't want to say what the video is, but that's the type of dancers. We're doing a big casting call..."[15] Meanwhile Gatson said that Lopez wanted a post-2AM Los Angeles club vibe for the video.

In the special, Spears is seen watching the playback, as she later explained, "[It is] just to make sure it's right and that the costume looks right and the dancers are together and we all look in unison. It's an energy and it looks fresh. It has a certain vibe with it and it makes sense." She also went on to describe the set as "grimy and gross [...] It was sweat and it was disgusting sometimes". At a point in the shoot, Spears changed her heels to Ugg boots during the shots that did not show her feet, stating "[Dancing in heels] hurts ... but it looks good. It wasn't a full-length shot, so a girl's about comfort when it's not showing." "Till the World Ends" is nearly the 40th music video Spears has made in her career. When asked if she feels she needs to top herself with every project, she responded,[62]
