Taylor Swift - Back To December

Song Info:

"Back to December" is a song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Swift wrote the song and produced it alongside Nathan Chapman. It was sent to country radios on November 15, 2010, by Big Machine Records as the second single from Swift's third studio album, Speak Now. According to Swift, "Back to December" is the first time she ever apologizes to someone in a song. Upon its release as a promotional single, critics speculated that the song is about Taylor Lautner, Swift's ex-boyfriend, although both Swift and Lautner has neither confirmed nor denied these allegations. "Back to December" is considered an orchestral country pop ballad and its lyrics are a remorseful plea for forgiveness for breaking up with a former lover.

"Back to December" was critically acclaimed by critics, who regarded it as one of the highlights of Speak Now. Critics have praised the song for its expressive lyrics, its indelible melody, and Swift's vocal improvement. The song enjoyed commercial success, debuting at number six on the United States Billboard Hot 100, and at number seven in Canada. It also peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. Internationally, the song received moderate success, peaking at number twenty-four in New Zealand, and number twenty-six in Australia.

The song's accompanying music video directed Yoann Lemoine, laments the aftermath of a break-up between Swift and her boyfriend. The music video garnered mixed to positive receptions from critics; some praised the spectacular visual sense in portraying the somber mood while others criticized its inadequate narrative. Swift has performed "Back to December" in several live appearances, notably at the 44th annual Country Music Association Awards and at the 38th American Music Awards.

Music Video Info:

"Back to December"'s accompanying music video was directed by Yoann Lemoine, who directed the video for Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream, and was filmed in late December 2010 before Christmas day.[29] In an interview with Country Music Television, Lemoine explained that he developed the idea for the video after being inspired from the movie, E.T..[30] He also told MTV News that he wanted the video to be simple yet metaphorical. He added, "I wanted to work on the coldness of feelings in a very visual way, playing with the snow, the distance and sadness."[31][32] He wanted to focus on Swift's look in the video so that she would come off as accessible, saying "I wanted her to perform a very natural way, to make her look very European. This was the main challenge to me. All of Taylor's world is very far away from my culture, but I saw something in her that could be very rough and heartbreaking; far from the princess glittery outfits and glam that she often goes for."[31] Lemoine was allowed to take control of the whole production of the video, although it was Swift's idea to have her character leave the letter for her beloved.[31] Swift's love interest in the video was played by male model, Guntars Asmanis.[33][34] Lemoine commented that Asmanis was the perfect fit for Swift's love interest, saying "I wanted a boy that was fragile and beautiful. I didn't want to go for a hunk or a perfect cheesy boy that would have killed the sincerity of the video."[31] The music video premiered on January 13, 2011, on CMT[35] and Great American Country.[36] Footages of the school and baseball stadium in the video were filmed in Binghamton, New York, in MacArthur Park[37] while scenes with Swift were shot in an old country mansion outside of Nashville.[30]

Taylor Swift - The Story Of Us

Song Info:

"The Story of Us" is a song by American country pop singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Swift wrote the track solely and produced it with Nathan Chapman. The song was released on April 19, 2011 by Big Machine Records, as the third single for pop stations from Swift's third studio album, Speak Now. Swift composed "The Story of Us" regarding the time when she encountered an ex-boyfriend of hers at the 2010 CMT Music Awards. At the event, the two attempted to ignore each other, which inspired Swift to compose the song.

"The Story of Us" was met with generally negative reviews from critics who felt that Swift is strongest when she lets her country roots shine. Prior to its single release, the song debuted and peaked at number forty-one on the Billboard Hot 100 and number seventy on the Canadian Hot 100 due to strong digital sales. It re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number ninety-eight after its single release.

The music video of the song was directed by Noble Jones which took place in Vanderbilt University. It premiered on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. The music video was met with mostly positive reception among music critics for its departure from music video high-school. "The Story of Us" was performed live in The Ellen DeGeneres Show and it was also included in the Speak Now World Tour set list.

Music Video Info:

The music video for "The Story of Us" was directed by Noble Jones.[30] The video was filmed at Vanderbilt University's Central Library with additional scenes filmed in Vanderbilt's Alumni Hall.[31][29] Allison Bonaguro of Country Music Television complimented the setting of the video, writing "shooting it in a library was a smart way to make all the lyrics about "I don't even know what page you're on" and "I've never heard silence quite this loud" really shine."[32] The music video premiered on May 24, at 7:53 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com and was followed by Swift's interview session with Sway Calloway of MTV News for "MTV First: Taylor Swift" segment.[33] During the interview, Swift revealed that the video shoot encountered some problems since tornadoes were hitting Nashville during the video shoot. She explained, "We had to hide. All of us, we had to hide in a room where there were no windows, so that was a little bit crazy. [But] other than that, it was incredibly fun."[31] Swift also shared her emotions with Calloway after watching the music video

Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me

Song Info:

"You Belong with Me" is a country pop song performed by American recording artist Taylor Swift. The song was co-written by Swift and Liz Rose and produced by Nathan Chapman with Swift's aid. It was released on April 21, 2009, by Big Machine Records as the third single from Swift's second studio album, Fearless. Swift was inspired to write "You Belong with Me" after overhearing a male friend of hers arguing with his girlfriend through a phone call; she continued to develop a story line afterward. The song contains many pop music elements and its lyrics have Swift desiring an out-of-reach love interest.

Critical reception for "You Belong with Me" was mixed to positive. At the 52nd Grammy Awards, the song received nominations for the Grammy Awards for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. "You Belong with Me" enjoyed commercial success as well; it became a top ten hit in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. In the United States, the song became Swift's best-charting single on the Billboard Hot 100 to date and gained the largest crossover radio audience since Faith Hill's "Breathe" did in 2000. The single was certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The song's accompanying music video was directed by Roman White. The video features Swift portraying two characters, a nerd (the protagonist) and a popular girl (the antagonist), while American actor Lucas Till acts as the male lead. The protagonist is in love with Till's character but does not tell him; his girlfriend, the antagonist, betrays him and does not like the protagonist. In the conclusion, Swift, as the nerd, and Till reveal their love to each other and kiss. The video won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, but during Swift's acceptance speech, rapper Kanye West interrupted, protesting in support of Beyoncé Knowles. The incident caused a reaction in the media, with most people coming to Swift's defense. The song was performed live at numerous venues, including the 2009–10 Fearless Tour, where it was the opening number. It was covered by various artists, including Butch Walker.

The song was ranked #8 on CMT's list of the 40 greatest songs of the decade.

Music Video Info:

"You Belong with Me"'s accompanying music video was directed by Roman White, and in its girl-and-boy next-door theme was significantly influenced by the 1999 movie "Drive Me Crazy." In the video, Swift portrays both the protagonist and antagonist, which she respectively described as "the nerd, who is pining away for this guy that she can't have" and "the popular girl."[2] Swift described the popular girl's persona as "horrible and scary and intimidating and perfect".[41] Her love interest is portrayed by American actor Lucas Till; Swift met Till while acting on the set of Hannah Montana: The Movie in April 2008. She later asked him to act in the video, as she was intrigued by his "cool look", embodying a "dreamy guy".[41] In regards to his acting on the video, Swift said, "He's absolutely perfect for the part and really fun to be around, too."[2] According to her, the video's plot is "charming"; she also said that, "the whole video, I'm just sitting there pining away, wishing I could be in her position."[41] In regards to the video's conclusion, White explained that Swift "becomes who she really is", while Swift thought it was a happy ending.[41] Swift commented, "One of my favorite things about this video is that there wasn't a standard performance scene. This video was pretty much all story line and I'm narrating it in the moment, basically narrating while all this is happening around me."[41]

The video was shot in two days between Gallatin, Tennessee and Hendersonville, Tennessee.[2]body double in order for both Swift, as the protagonist and antagonist, to appear in one shot.[41][42] In a scene where she appeared dancing, White replaced Swift's routine with a one having no rhythm; she recalled, "It was some of the most fun I'd had in a long time, just freaking out and doing the dumbest moves."[41] On the second day, they first filmed a prom scene and, lastly, the football game, both being filmed at Pope John Paul II High School. The school supplied many students as extras, including football players, band members, cheerleaders and students for the final prom scene. When filming for a touchdown, Till was unable to catch the ball, furthering the length of the shoot.[41] "You put a lot of good solid effort in it and it looks good", Swift stated about filming.[41] On the first day of filming, Swift used a

The video commences with Till arguing with his girlfriend through a phone call. As soon as Swift, as the protagonist, notices, they begin to communicate by holding up signs through their bedroom windows. Till closes his curtains, and Swift holds up a sign saying, "I love you". As the song's chorus approaches, Swift starts to sing and dance in front of a mirror, changing to different clothing multiple times. Afterward, Swift is sitting in a bench while reading a book. Till arrives and the two converse. Then, Swift, as the antagonist, arrives in a red convertible car and Till gets in it; Swift, as the antagonist, kisses him and gives a vicious look towards the protagonist. Suddenly, she is seen cheerleading at a football game while Swift's other persona is in the bleachers, performing in the school band. After scoring the winning touchdown, Till moves toward his girlfriend and finds her flirting with a teammate; meanwhile, Swift, as the protagonist, stares in amazement. Back in their bedroom windows, they again communicate through signs, Till asked Swift, as the protagonist, if she was attending prom and she responded, "no, studying". Shortly after, Swift is seen entering prom with a white dress, no longer looking like a nerd, while all her peers stare in amazement. When Till spots her, he walks towards her and Swift, as the antagonist, attempts to impede him, but he ignores her. Ending the video, Till and Swift reveal letters saying "I love you" and kiss.

Taylor Swift - Mine

Song Info:

"Mine" is a song by American country pop singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from her third studio album, Speak Now. The song was released on August 4, 2010, as the lead single from the album. The song was two weeks ahead of the planned August 16 release, due to its online leak. The song was written solely by Taylor Swift, and was produced by Nathan Chapman, alongside Swift as a co-producer.

The music video was shot in Kennebunkport[1][14] as well as on Ram Island, Cape Elizabeth and features Swift getting married to a groom played by British actor Toby Hemingway.[15] The director, Roman White, posted a blog on August 15, 2010 stating that the video was completed and that it was "insanely great." He went on to say that "you never really know what a piece is going to look like in the end, but when we were shooting this video everything was just perfect and you just had a feeling that it was all going to fall in to place perfectly . . . as it did."[16]

The video premiered August 27, 2010 on CMT as part of a live half-hour special event that discussed the making of the video.[17]

On August 20, a 30 second sneak peek of the video was released prior to the premiere on August 27 on CMT.[18]

Photographs of many of the scenes, including the wedding scene, were leaked onto the internet prior to the video's release.

The video begins with Swift entering a café and noticing a couple arguing. It is quickly shown that when she was a little girl, her father's attitude toward her mother quickly ruined the relationship, leaving Taylor on the sidelines watching everything dissolve. Soon, she meets a waiter at the café and they become instantly infatuated with each other. A few years later, he soon proposes to Taylor while they're on a date and she cheerfully accepts, forgetting her philophobic ways. One night, after her fiancé is stressed from his life, he manages to blame Swift, just like her father did to his wife. She instantly breaks down and runs into the street crying and feeling like her love interest will leave her. He follows her and apologizes. The last scenes show Swift eventually getting married and having two boys.

Swift chose her longtime friend and look-alike Jaclyn Jarrett (the daughter of professional wrestler Jeff Jarrett) to play the younger version of herself in the video.[19] Jaclyn's sisters Joslyn and Jeryn as well as Kyra Angle (daughter of professional wrestler Kurt Angle) also appear.

As of December 2010 the video has received over 25 million views on YouTube.
